The Z also offers in-school residencies including mini-performances, workshops and theatre-prep visits. To add greater insight, understanding and interpretation of the content of shows, The Z offers on-line curriculum guides and pre and post-performance question and answer sessions with performing artists and their companies.

For select performances The Z offers in-school workshops conducted by some of the most talented and creative artists of dance, theatre and music in the world. Designed to enrich and deepen students’ experience with the arts, these workshops also excite and engage students, provide greater insight, understanding and interpretation of the content matter, and enhance the theatre experience.

Pre and Post-Performance Discussion
Many of our performances are enhanced with interactive, informal discussions between the audience and special guests, performing artists and their companies. Discussions include an exploration of the themes, the art form, and opportunities for questions and answers.

The Z recognizes that budgets are under great strain, therefore listed here are resources that may be useful when looking for assistance in funding tickets, transportation, and costs for our Educational Programs.

Professional Development Opportunities for Teachers
The Z offers professional development workshops that provide teachers with performing arts-based skills to teach core curriculum. These high quality, in-depth workshops help teachers learn how to integrate the arts into the classroom.

The program provides unique artistic opportunities as well as work readiness training for those interested in pursuing a career in the arts, or an arts related field.[vc_separator color=”grey” align=”align_center” border_width=”2″] [vc_row full_width=”” parallax=”” parallax_image=””][vc_column width=”2/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1435610407895{padding-right: 24px !important;}”][vc_column_text]The Teen Ambassador program is a free program consisting of 10-15 high school-aged students that demonstrate an interest in the performing arts, community engagement and have an aptitude for writing. Through the Teen Ambassador Program, students will be able to:

  • Participate in master classes and workshops
  • Attend world-class performances by an array of artists in genres they otherwise may have not been exposed to
  • Contribute to the local youth community by authoring reviews of performances through social media as well as participating in local arts events
  • Gain exposure to behind-the-scenes operations at a nonprofit arts organization by working closely with the organization
  • Accumulate community service hours
  • Collaborate with peers also interested in the arts

Applicants must:

  • Be a high school student
  • Have access to a computer and at least 1 social media outlet (in order to author reviews)
  • Be able to attend regular pre-show meetings, 2 workshops, 6 Mainstage shows per year (for which tickets will be provided by The Zeiterion) and accumulate at least 20 volunteer hours at The Z.
  • Be able to produce a review of each performance attended
  • Obtain Parental Permission
  • Complete and Submit an application by September 30th

Applications must be received by September 30th and can be sent by mail or email. Applicants will be notified no later than October 7th. Throughout the months of October to May, students are invited to six different performances from internationally renowned artists, free of charge. Performances take place at night or on the weekends.

PRESHOW MEETINGS
Ambassadors meet one hour prior to each of the performances to discuss concepts and themes, take part in ancillary activities and to prepare themselves with the knowledge needed to provide a comprehensive arts experience.

SHOW REVIEWS
Participants are asked to author an online review for each of the performances they attend. The reviews take place in the form on blogs, video diaries, Facebook posts and more. Students with a strong interest in writing about the arts are encouraged to apply.

VOLUNTEER HOURS
Ambassadors will complete a total of at least 20 volunteer hours at The Zeiterion throughout the course of the program.

WORKSHOPS/CLASSES
The Z offers a number of workshops that incorporate a variety of performing arts related skills and topics. Workshops take place after-school or on the weekend. Teen Ambassadors participate in these workshops at no cost.

ATTENDANCE
Attendance is mandatory at all meetings, shows, workshops and events. Students are permitted two excused absences throughout the year with written documentation from a parent or guardian.
