The Zeiterion ukulele orchestra began when ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro handed out thirty instruments to “Year of The Uke” contest winners in October 2014. Throughout the fall, this newly minted group with instruments and lessons sponsored by The Symphony Music Shop, gathered to rehearse “Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash. That January, The Zukes performed their inaugural song at The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra concert! Currently, The Zukes meet weekly to practice with instructor Nicholas Estrela to learn chords, rhythms and songs.

The Penler Exhibit Series was developed in 2014 in conjunction with the opening of our VIP Member Lounge in the Penler Space. The Lounge, which hosts anywhere up to 150 members per show, offers local artists a space to display their work. The Z offers this space as courtesy to artists in order to encourage community involvement in the visual arts. Artists can share the space or have a solo exhibition, and a new artist is brought in every two months.

If you would like to display your art at the Z, please contact mmccarthy@zeiterion.org
